The agreement, in plain words.
These are the terms for using Chorus — what we offer, what we ask of you, and the limits we're honest about up front. We'd rather explain than hide behind fine print.
● Communication coaching, not therapy · 7-day free trial · cancel anytime
The terms that matter most.
The full terms are below. Here are the few things we'd want a friend to know before they start.
Coaching, not therapy
Chorus is communication coaching and skills practice. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care, diagnosis, or a crisis service, and the AI is not a licensed professional.
7-day free trial
Start a 7-day free trial, then it becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. One subscription covers both partners.
18 and older
Chorus is for adults 18 and up. By using it, you confirm you're of age and that the details you give us are accurate.
A safety aid, not a guarantee
Our automated safety system can point you to human help, but it can miss things and isn't a substitute for emergency services. In a crisis, call 911 or 988.
Communication coaching — not therapy.
Chorus is a private communication coach for couples. It helps two willing partners take in what the other said and shape what they want to say back. That's the whole job.
- Chorus is communication coaching and skills practice — not therapy, counseling, or medical or mental-health treatment.
- The AI is not a licensed professional and does not diagnose, treat, or provide a clinical evaluation of you or your relationship.
- Using Chorus does not create a therapist–client or doctor–patient relationship with Chorus or the AI.
- Chorus is not a crisis service or a substitute for professional care.
If a therapist is involved
Some couples connect a licensed therapist who oversees them through Chorus. That clinician is the professional in the room — Chorus extends their care, it doesn't replace their judgment. Any clinical relationship is between you and your therapist, not with Chorus.
Therapist oversight is opt-in and consented — we cover how it works, and what a clinician can see, on our privacy page.
For adults, with accurate details.
Chorus asks for a little honesty before the conversation even starts — about who you are and how you'll use it.
- You must be 18 or older to use Chorus.
- You agree to give accurate account information and to keep your login credentials secure.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account. Let us know promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
- One subscription is meant for one couple — the two partners it covers — not for resale or shared use beyond that.
By using Chorus, you agree
When you create an account or join a session, you accept these terms and acknowledge how Chorus works — that it's coaching, not therapy; the limits of the safety system; and the privacy terms on our privacy page.
Your free trial, then a subscription.
Start a 7-day free trial — cancel anytime before it ends. One subscription covers both partners. Here's exactly how billing works, with no surprises.
How the trial and renewal work
We ask for a payment method to start, and we'll tell you the price and date before anything is charged.
The 7-day free trial
Your trial runs for 7 days. You provide a payment method to begin, but you are not charged during the trial.
Conversion to paid
When the trial ends, your plan automatically becomes a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up — unless you cancel before the trial ends. It then renews each period (monthly or annual) until you cancel.
Cancelling
Cancel anytime from your billing portal — no phone calls, no retention maze. Cancel during the trial and you're never charged. Cancel a paid plan and you keep access through the end of the period you've already paid for.
Payments & pricing
Payments are processed securely through Stripe; Chorus never stores your full card details. Couples pay one price for both partners. Therapists pay per practice. We'll give notice before any price change takes effect.
Except where required by law, subscription payments already made are non-refundable — which is exactly why the trial is free and cancelling is easy. See current prices on our pricing page.
Use Chorus for what it's for.
Chorus is built for two willing partners working on how they talk to each other. A few clear lines keep it that way.
- Don't use Chorus to threaten, harass, abuse, or coerce another person.
- Don't use Chorus for any unlawful purpose, or to break someone else's rights.
- Don't try to break, probe, reverse-engineer, overload, or scrape the service.
- Don't impersonate someone else or add a partner to a session without their knowledge.
- Don't resell, sublicense, or share your access beyond the couple it covers.
Your words stay yours
You keep ownership of what you write in Chorus. You give us only the permission we need to operate the service for you — to run your sessions, generate summaries and your relationship-health score, and keep your history available to you. Your conversations are never used to train AI models, ours or anyone else's.
If someone uses Chorus in a way that breaks these terms or puts another person at risk, we may suspend or close that account.
An aid, not a guarantee.
Chorus includes an automated safety system that watches for signs of real distress and points you to human help. It's a genuine aid — and we're honest about what it can't do.
What the safety system does
When it sees signs of crisis, Chorus steps back from coaching and points you toward people who can help, like 988 and the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
It can miss things, and it can over-flag
The system is intentionally cautious, so it may raise concern when none exists — and it can also miss real risk. Please don't rely on it as your only safety net.
No real-time monitoring or authority contact
Chorus does not watch your conversations in real time and does not contact emergency services or authorities for you. A crisis event may be logged as a non-verbatim record — severity and category only, not the raw conversation — and may notify an overseeing therapist.
In an emergency, reach a person
If you or your partner are in danger, call 911, call or text 988, or reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
Chorus is a coach, not a crisis service. The safety system is a best-effort aid — we don't guarantee it will detect every situation, and it's not a replacement for a licensed therapist, a doctor, or emergency services.
What we can — and can't — stand behind.
We put real care into Chorus. But it's a tool for two people to use, and being clear about its limits is part of being honest with you.
- Chorus is provided “as is.” We don't promise specific outcomes for your relationship, and we can't guarantee the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
- AI guidance and summaries may be imperfect. Treat them as suggestions to weigh, not professional advice to follow.
- The decisions you make in your relationship are yours. Chorus offers coaching, not direction.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, Chorus is not liable for indirect or consequential harms, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months.
What this doesn't limit
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the law that can't be waived. Some places don't allow certain limits on liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You agree to use Chorus responsibly and within these terms, and to cover claims that arise from misusing the service or breaking them.
Keeping these terms current.
Chorus will grow, and these terms may change with it. When they do, we'll keep it plain.
- We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we'll give reasonable notice before it takes effect.
- You can stop using Chorus at any time, cancel your subscription, and ask us to delete your account and history.
- We may suspend or end access for accounts that break these terms or put another person at risk.
- Questions about these terms? Email us at hello@choruscouples.com.
How these terms fit together
These Terms of Service work alongside our privacy and safety practices, which explain how we handle your conversations, therapist oversight, and crisis events. Together they describe the whole relationship between you and Chorus.
The questions people actually ask.
No. Chorus is communication coaching and skills practice — not therapy, counseling, medical or mental-health treatment, diagnosis, or a crisis service. The AI is not a licensed professional, and using Chorus does not create a therapist–client relationship with us. Some couples connect their own licensed therapist, who oversees them through Chorus; any clinical relationship is with that therapist, not with Chorus.
You start with a 7-day free trial and provide a payment method to begin, but you are not charged during the trial. When the trial ends, your plan becomes a paid subscription at the price shown when you signed up — unless you cancel before the trial ends — and then renews each period until you cancel. One subscription covers both partners.
Cancel anytime from your billing portal — no phone calls, no retention maze. Cancel during the trial and you are never charged. Cancel a paid plan and you keep access through the end of the period you have already paid for. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments already made are non-refundable.
Yes. Chorus is for adults 18 and older. By using it, you confirm you are at least 18 and that the account details you give us are accurate.
No. The automated safety system is an aid, not a guarantee — it can over-flag, and it can miss real risk. Chorus does not monitor in real time and does not contact authorities for you. In an emergency, call 911, call or text 988, or reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
You do. You keep ownership of your conversations and give us only the permission we need to run the service for you — to power your sessions, generate summaries and your relationship-health score, and keep your history available to you. Your conversations are never used to train AI models, ours or anyone else's, and you can export or delete your data.
A note on this page
This is a plain-language draft of our terms, written so a real person can read it — and it is still being reviewed and finalized with our attorney. The final, governing version will be posted here. If anything is unclear in the meantime, ask us — we'd rather explain than hide behind fine print.
Clear terms, honest start.
When the terms are this plain, it's easier to begin with trust. Start a 7-day free trial — cancel anytime before it ends. One subscription, both partners.
